"What about all the things that you said was yours and mine..." - Earth Day

4/22/2015

Hello everyone!

Welcome in my next post, which is very important for me and for you could be as well.
Please, don't ignore the matter!

Today, as you probably found out from Google Design we celebrate Earth Day. 22th April.
Why, I'm asking most of us realise Earth neeeds help only at this day?
Why not can't we take care of our Earth every day?
I want you to be aware of what's happening with our home now and this post is about it.
I have something to tell and you have got something to realise.

EARTH PROBLEMS

I'm starting from the nitty-gritty. If we asked people in the street: "Are you aware of all Earth's problems", I'm sure, just part of them would tell us. And it's not they're not educated or informed. We were learning about it in school, we hear it on news, but STILL we don't want to explore this topic on our own. That's a big mistake, because:
WE ARE ALL LIVING ON THIS EARTH.
NO MATTER, WHERE.
EVERYONE IS A PART OF THIS WORLD.
EVERYONE CAN CHANGE SOMETHING.

Earth is our home. Why don't we take care of our home?

Just notice that most of these problems I'll put here are caused by human. It's no explanation in technical development or thinking"Come on, it's 21st century, who cares?". If somebody wants to change something, they will and it's really possible.
It doesn't have to be a major change: minor changes build this bigger one.
We need changes. We really need them. We've already had difficulties with:

1. Greenhouse effect - it's assumed if we take no action in that matter, the average temperature will increase in 1,5-4 C in next 100 years. Maybe for us it won't be as much serious, but think about dying animals and plants whose natural environment destroys with every next day because of that.
Also the ocean's surface gets higher because of melting glaciers. Soon we won't be able to visit Venice or Maledives, cause they will DROWN.

2. Ozone layer  - ozone protects us from harmful UV, so when we let it be weaker our health become weaker too. Imagine how much money you could save from medicines and hospital admissions!

3. Forests - trees produce O2 which is necessary for our organizm functioning while we cut them for production. And people like mad don't stop this cutting.

4. Oceans  - One-quarter of the planet's biological diversity is in danger of extinction within the next 30 years. In the ocean environment, commercial fishing stands as one of the greatest biodiversity threats. - writes Greenpeace International .
I think it's enough to get.

5. Pollution - very soon we'll have to use masks while going out. It's not normal.

6. BiodiversityThe most important causes in the current loss of biodiversity are the destruction and alteration of habitats. The United Nation reports 80 percent of species decline as a result of habitat destruction. informs Greenpeace International

7. Haunting - illegal trade of animal still is one of most profitable ones, third after drug's and gun's one. People kill for material or just for "hobby". How much madness is in people's minds nowadays? DO THEY WANT HAVE COSY FUR CARPETS OR SOMETHING!?

I could write more even, but 7 number is pretty matching - seven sins human is causing to Earth.

      STATISTICS

These numbers always work on me. They're checked and terryfying.
They make you think for a moment.
(I put the scheme into pieces for easier reading. It comes from mnn.com. )

WHAT WE CAN DO?

Like I noticed earlier EVERYONE can do something.
Each kind of action helps in someway. More actions = more hope for better Earth.

You can (yes, you really can):

1. Start recyling using recycle bins.
2. Turn off the lights when unnecessary.
3. Take shower, not baths. You save time and water.
4. Avoid CFS - have you heard if homemade deodorant?
5. Don't do dishes, God, there's something like dishwasher which saves the water!
6.. Use re-use products, like water bottles or plastic boxes. Less litter!
7.. Don't litter too. A bit of walk to rubbish bin will make good for your legs, trust me.
8.. Start collectins bottle's caps, batteries or used CD's. You can give them to special places or even schools, from where they're sent them for recycling. The money from that process usually goes for needing help people. Knew about it?
9. Buy shopping-bag and take it for every shopping. Haven't you get irritated of the amount of one-using carriers yet?
10.. Stop destroying plants. Have they ever hurt you?
11. Respect animals. Why are they guilty?
12. And if you want to get more involed SUPPORT organisations and societies.

There're thousands of them but I chose ones I try to support in really various ways: you can donate there, you can go on actions, you can adopt online the animal you want to protect, you can evern retweet&share important things they post. Each action is needed.

Greenpeace Internationallink

as you could already read this is great source of information about Earth's matters, also organises couple of campaigns and amazing projects! Worldwide, everyone welcome!

WWFlink

there you can adopt animals online and support many projects, actions mainly taken for animal's matters. Also many great videos and inspiring people!

Earth Day Networklink

combination of campaign, policy and education to activate the environmental moevement worldwide! Fresh news!

AT THE END

I want to share something very special with you yet. Probably you heard it (I hope) but I will never stop remembering about this masterpiece. The Michael Jackson's song, "Earth Song" expresses excatly what I want to say still. So maybe I'm finishing writing now and let the video on.
Listen and watch carefully. This time even more carefully.

Happy Earth Day everyone.
